Weekly Writing Challenge

This weeks challenge was to stop, think and write instead of reaching for the camera to snap a photo of a moment, a vision worth keeping or a time to remember.

One morning I woke and thought of doing that very same thing, to photograph what I though may be the last remnant of colour in my garden as winter draws in and the night frosts begin.

I didn’t expect to see you
Standing tall for so long
You are here each morning
At dawn and bird song

Your face wide and open
Honest and adored
Dancing in the wind
The sun you applaud

You are golden, like amber
You light up my day
A bright sign in darkness
Bold and on display

I will miss you my flower
You’ll be gone too soon
The cold winters night
Will perish your bloom
