  • Thoughts as Visitors

It occurred to me today that within a Medieval Monastery, under the Benedictine Rule, a visitor would first be invited to stay for a few days in a guest house. Likewise, the author and teacher of contemplative practice, James Finley, states that when meeting a visitor at the door, do pause and ask if we can meet the needs that are arising? Can we share an interconnectedness?

In reflection today, I have been sitting with this same question, but as a metaphor for my thoughts. If I consider the visitor, as my thoughts, maybe I can apply this to heart centering prayer practice. How do I greet my thoughts? Are they invited? Do I have the capacity to welcome and sit with these thoughts? Or is this a time to keep the door closed?

Today I sit with the notion of thoughts as visitors. It is ok to be silent. It is ok to keep the door closed for a while.

“Every time you let go of a thought—even if another comes back—you’re practicing this deep motion of non-clinging, letting go, consenting, surrendering.” — Cynthia Bourgeault

  • The Mary Magdalene Gospel Books

    And the oracle decks….😊💞🤗

These are the books on the translations of the Gospel of Mary. I use a wide view of the translations to find a feeling, a fit, that sits right with me. The sense I get is that the Gospel speaks to us on many levels of our own emotional landscape. The experience I have, and other readers, is that the Gospel can give a new meaning, a quote, a new message each time it is read. This is what is meant by a New Light. How do I know? I have just completed a Gospel of Mary reading course. All the participants in the group experienced New Lights from the text each week! Each time it is read, over and over, it speaks to us “at the level of the heart”.

  • Heart Centring Practice

This is a short description and meditation on the Heart Centring Prayer Practice. I invite you to sit with me in meditation and anoint of yourself with a plant essence you have to enter into your heart with the energy of the Magdalenes.

In the next video we ascend to the 5th Power, the Realm of the flesh, the enslavement to the body.
